Graphite, Pigments, Varnish on Purple Beechwood
The starting point for this series are drawings of nudes, combined in virtuoso detail with plants, branches or blossoms. The bodies dominate the pictorial space, but the meticulously executed outlines tend to dissolve the form. They overlap, mix, superimpose, overdraw each other to form bodies upon bodies upon bodies. They float in a world without perspective, becoming figures inundated with themselves, changing shape in a constant frenzy. There is no top and no bottom, the bodies jump back and forth, refusing any static.
