“What patience, what tenderness art demands! Nothing without work!”
A. Rodin
The starting point and leitmotif of Peter Senoner’s artistic concept and actions are portraits. Portraits which he carries out in traditional mediums – figures that he draws, paints or forms life size. They are not portraits – Senoner’s figures are part of the tradition of visionary portraits, which less oriented on people from the real world of experience and much more representations of typified embodiments.
Peter Senoner’s artificial creations are pale, asexual, naked creatures, inspired by fabulous beings and angels in the same measure; they are mythical fairy and satyr figures and similar also to beautiful models on the catwalks or spaceship crews. But it is not only Hollywood fantasies, science fiction, MTV or the fashion industry that delivers the poses and attitudes but, above all, art history and popular folk art from his own surroundings.
